Feral parrots that called a Dallas electric substation home have a new place to roost.
The parrots, their nests and eggs were removed from substation in the 1200 block of Garland Road in northeast Dallas.
Oncor crews removed the birds so that they could be moved for both their safety and to make sure there were no power outages.
Removing the parrots from the precarious perch was no small feat.
Crewmembers retrieved the eggs and placed them in a padded backpack designed specially for this kind of transfer.
The eggs and chicks will be raised at the Rogers Wildlife Center in Hutchins, and then they'll be released back to the wild.
Oncor crews put deterrents in place at the substation to keep birds from nesting there in the future.
