The group's Alan Dickens says it is getting almost $40,000 for five projects, including a program to help irrigators under the age of 30 put in sustainable irrigation systems.

He says $10,000 will be going towards restoring the habitat of the threatened regent parrot.

"It was deemed as a rare species on the river, but people were saying no, there's a few around," he said.

"There are a few in our district but it's one of the last big breeding colonies, so the idea is make that as sustainable as possible, restore the habitat, keep those couple of colonies strong ... of a species that is rare and endangered."
