Confiscated: Hundreds of Parrots and Cockatoos in Tobelo, North Maluku

The condition of the confiscated birdsNature Conservation Agency, Military Police, quarantine staffs, and harbor officials collaborated to confiscate hundreds of parrots and cockatoos who were about to be smuggled out from Tobello, North Maluku. Approximately 250 birds from various species like Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus), Chattering Lory (Lorius garrulus), Violet-necked Lory (Eos squamata), White Cockatoo (Cacatua alba), Red-cheeked Parrot (Geoffroyus geoffroyi) , and 3 cuscuses. Those animals were going to be smuggled through Mentari Cristal ship by people wearing uniforms similar to those of Indonesia National Army.

Nottinghamshire woman saves parrot by knitting it woolly jumpers

Charlie the parrot was so neglected, he had plucked out his feathers.A neglected parrot which was nursed back to health wearing hand-knitted jumpers now refuses to be without them.

Charlie, a green eclectus parrot, was rescued by Safehaven, a bird charity with a base in Nottinghamshire.

The parrot had plucked out most of its feathers was was said to resemble an oven-ready chicken.

A vet said it should be put down but Rebecca Blagg, the charity's coordinator, knitted jumpers to keep it warm.

Mrs Blagg said: "He has a green one, a blue one and a couple of peach-and-brown ones which we change once a week.

"We make them with very big wing holes so they don't restrict his movements.
