City Parrots offers a range of volunteer opportunities
Tell us your City Parrot story!
We are interested in hearing from people that see and hear wild parrots in their cities. Do you regularly observe parrots in your hometown? You have some interesting pictures you like to share or you like to write a story about your local parrot bunch?
Please let us know. We always appreciate people with an interest in parrots and especially City Parrots. We might publish your story on our website.
Our goal is to get a better understanding of the global phenomenon of City Parrots. Which species, for how long, how successful and on what exact locations, are the main questions we like to see answered.
Help translate!
The City parrots website will be available in 2 languages: English and Spanish (still under construction). We have noticed that there is very little information on parrots available in other languages besides English. In areas where these birds actually roam free, like Africa, Latin America and South-east Asia, there is virtually nothing available on the web or in print. Parrot welfare and conservation would greatly benefit if more and better information is available to the people of these regions.
We are would be proud to have a Spanish version of our website available. Translations are presently done by two very appreciated but also very overworked, volunteers. They could do with extra help!
You can help with doing just one translation and sent this to us. Or become part of the City Parrots team and together get a whole new language supported.
For teachers that teach one of these languages. Why not have your class translate one or two articles? This will help their education and boost conservation and welfare at the same time.
E-mail us to apply or to send us translated articles.
You’d like to help your local parrots to colonize cities within their native range?
This would be a very special project. We will have to give this careful consideration. It will depend on a great number of conditions before we can decide to venture into such a project. There are many conservational, ecological, hygienic and legal issues to overcome. We encourage you to contact us with your ideas and capabilities so we can discuss these issues.
