Polly gotta ticket! Parrot in car gets parking ticket
A PARROT was left speechless when a traffic warden gave him a parking ticket on a busy Liverpool street.
The colourful bird looked nonplussed when the official slapped a penalty notice on his vehicle’s windscreen.
The parrot had been left alone in the front seat of a white van left outside 62 Castle Street hotel, in Liverpool city centre.
Shopkeepers said they believed its owner had parked and gone into nearby Liverpool crown court for a hearing.
But traffic wardens decided not to accept the squawking parrot’s explanation and dished out the fine regardless.
The driver had bought a ticket and stuck it on the back windscreen – but it was apparently not spotted by the wardens.
The parrot had been left on a wooden perch with a metal box of snacks fixed just below while its owner was away.
The red and green bird raised a smile from city workers walking past the vehicle yesterday morning.
