Corella rescued from Chadstone released
A CORELLA saved by firefighters during a high-rise rescue operation at Chadstone has been released back into the wild today.
The bird made headlines when the Metropolitan Fire Brigade’s high angle rescue team were deployed to free it after it became stuck on a wire on the facade of Chadstone Shopping Centre in March.
Since the dramatic rescue, the injured bird – dubbed Chaddy – has been cared for by Wildlife Victoria.
Chaddy has finally made a full recovery was released this afternoon in a Malvern East park near the site of the rescue.
Wildlife Victoria’s Amy Amato said Chaddy had received a pin in its leg after the ordeal, and has been cared for by a volunteer during the three-month recovery.
“Earlier this week, the veterinarian gave Chaddy the all clear for release,’’ Ms Amato said.
“Wildlife Victoria would like to express our sincere thanks to the MFB for their specialist assistance with this rescue and many others. It’s wonderful that we can all work together to benefit our local wildlife.”
