Monk parakeet at nest The nest is slated to be removed so DEC captured one of the birds earlier in a net to be relocated to a bird sanctuary. They didn't get the mate yet (this bird). I was told they were going to return to capture this one as well. Two Monk Parakeets have set up residence on a power pole beneath three transformers at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 21st Streets in Watervliet, N.Y. June 15, 2012.
